IAR uses an Integrative approach to addiction treatment. We are so committed to the concept of integrative care, we even used the term in our name!
But what does integrative mean?
An integrative approach involves bringing BOTH conventional evidence based and Complimentary Alternative Medicine (CAM) together in a coordinated way in addiction treatment. In effect, it’s a multi-modality approach. IAR uses both evidence based modalities like counseling and our holistic, CAM therapies to treat addiction. Integrative Treatment also means that our team of providers deliver physical health treatment along with mental health and addiction use treatment, all at the same time in highly structured and coordinated programs. We do this because those who have suffered substance abuse issues often have as many physical and health issues due to the impact of substance abuse, as mental health issues. More than 50% of those who abuse drugs and alcohol are shown to have at least one significant mental health illness as well. IAR integrates individual and group addiction recovery counseling, mental health counseling, nutritional evaluation guidance and meal planning, genetic DNA lab testing, long term support groups and many other holistic treatments currently in use by our clinicians and therapists, all within the framework of a conventional healthcare clinic.
The World Health Organization (WHO) defines health as “a state of complete physical, mental and social well being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity” This definition of health matches the vision and focus of the health programs we’ve provided at our holistic health clinic for nearly 17 years in Westborough. Our clinic motto is emblazed upon our wall and greets everyone who has found their way to our nurturing, supportive center. It simply states, ‘Holistic Health (
